The Olena Zelenska Foundation has delivered 20 generators of various capacities, worth a total of UAH 7.5 million, to educational institutions in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi and Dniprovskyi districts. Thanks to these alternative energy sources, more than 11,500 children will be able to continue their studies without disruption, even during power outages.

This initiative is part of the Foundation’s ongoing response to the energy challenges affecting the stable operation of educational institutions.

“When a school has an alternative source of energy, it means the learning process can continue even during outages. It is important for us that children can study in their usual rhythm — in warm classrooms, with light and access to everything they need,” said Viktoriia Romanova, CEO of the Olena Zelenska Foundation.

In the Solomianskyi district, 16 generators were delivered. Of these, 13 generators with a capacity of 5.5 kW were provided to thirteen educational institutions: Lyceum No. 187; Specialized School No. 7 named after M. T. Rylskyi; Gymnasium No. 178; Preschool No. 460; Secondary School No. 26; Lyceum No. 161; Preschool No. 334; Secondary School No. 54; Specialized School No. 159; Specialized School No. 324; Preschool No. 762 “Lybid”; Preschool No. 374; and Preschool No. 714.

Three additional high-capacity generators (150 kW each) were delivered to Lyceum No. 144 named after H. Vashchenko, Secondary School No. 166, and Lyceum No. 64.

In the Dniprovskyi district, four generators with a capacity of 150 kW were provided to Lyceum No. 272 “Ukrainian College named after V. Sukhomlynskyi,” Gymnasium No. 148, Technical Lyceum, and Scientific Lyceum No. 208.

The equipment will ensure lighting, the operation of heating circulation pumps, and the basic infrastructure of the institutions during power outages. High-capacity generators allow schools to maintain a full educational process — including classroom lighting, hot meals in school cafeterias, and the stable functioning of Points of Invincibility.

The Foundation also finances and organizes the works required to connect high-capacity generators to the engineering networks of educational institutions.

Generators for the Solomianskyi district were provided with the support of the Kellner Family Foundation (Czech Republic), which funded their procurement. The foundation also supports other initiatives of the Olena Zelenska Foundation, including the Safe School project.

Generators for the Dniprovskyi district were delivered with the support of the Hilti Foundation (Liechtenstein), a partner of the Foundation since May 2024. Within this cooperation, several humanitarian projects have already been implemented, including the construction of homes for families within the Address of Childhood project and the support of the Superhero School educational space.

The Olena Zelenska Foundation continues its work to strengthen the energy resilience of educational and other social institutions.
