Goal

Creating safe conditions for children’s learning and development by restoring and installing bomb shelters in schools and kindergartens.

Results

The Foundation equipped 30 bomb shelters in schools and kindergartens. More than 13,000 children use these spaces daily. The work on restoring the spaces is underway; in 2026, more such locations will appear.

About the Project

The Olena Zelenska Foundation is implementing this project to help children learn, develop, and stay safe.

Air raids have become a daily reality in many areas of Ukraine. Therefore, the Foundation is committed to creating protective premises that constitute full-fledged educational and psychological spaces. Equipped bomb shelters feature relatively safe places during wartime, where children can stay during air raids and study, rest, and feel more secure.

A spacious room with white bunk beds featuring green bedding along the walls, pastel mats on the floor, and several round tables with chairs and art supplies in the center. The room has exposed ceilings and bright overhead lights.

The restored bomb shelters have areas for study, rest, and communication with a psychologist. Each space is inclusive, accessible, and equipped according to the requirements of the State Emergency Service—that is, it is safe for all children, including those with disabilities.

The Foundation plans to expand its geography and increase the number of schools and kindergartens that receive high-quality, equipped shelters.

We aim to make education safe for every child in Ukraine.
