The Government of Estonia and the Estonian Center for International Development (ESTDEV) have supported the initiative of the Olena Zelenska Foundation and the Voices of Children Charitable Foundation to organize camps for children affected by the full-scale war. 180 Ukrainian children will be able to attend the psychosocial support camps this summer thanks to ESTDEV's contribution.
During the meeting, the Board Members of the Olena Zelenska Foundation and the Executive Director of the Estonian Center for International Development (ESTDEV) Klen Jarats agreed on cooperation. The ESTDEV decided to make a charitable contribution of 100 thousand euros.
In addition, the “Voices Camp” was also supported by philanthropists from South Korea and partners of the Foundation - Good Steward Inc. FEBC-Korea.
During four shifts of the camp that were funded, children who have lost their parents, lost their homes, and live in the frontline areas, will be able to rest and receive psychosocial support.
We are grateful to our partners for the opportunity to implement projects that are critically important for our children.
The cooperation between the Olena Zelenska Foundation and the Estonian Government and the Estonian Center for International Development (ESTDEV) began a year ago. Estonia joined the “Room for Childhood” project, under which the Foundation built 14 barrier-free and fully furnished houses with shelter for large foster families who lost their homes due to the war.
Together with Estonia, the Foundation built one house in the Zhytomyr region for a large foster family of Anastasia and Oleksiy Melnyk. Recently, First Lady Olena Zelenska and the Foundation's team visited the family together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Margus Tsahkna.
