The first lessons have already taken place in the Superhero School educational center, in Rivne Regional Children’s Hospital, and the students – 11 young patients of the hospital, pre-school and high school students – have come to new classes.
Olena Zelenska Foundation funded the launch of the educational space. It has 2 classrooms and a room for creative game classes with a total area of 72.9 square meters. From now on, primary, middle, high school and pre-school students will have their lessons here. The classrooms are equipped following the Superhero School general standards: ergonomic furniture, an interactive white-board, and a mental health room. For a comfortable and efficient educational process, tablets and school supplies are provided.
“The Superhero School project is closely related to our team. Since 2021, it has been operating under the First Lady’s patronage. One of the priority tasks of our Foundation is to ensure access to education for Ukrainian children under any conditions. Therefore, we have funded the launch of 6 new centers of such schools in Ukraine this year. So that more children, even during treatment, can continue their studies. I wish to say thank to the entire team, because they inspire us daily with their example of tireless energy, willingness to act and help, as well as sincere commission to their work,” Nina Horbachova, Director of Olena Zelenska Foundation, notes.
The Superhero School educational center started operating in Rivne back in late April 2024. At the same time, the premises were under repair. Teachers began conducting their first lessons in wards and hospital spaces to get acquainted with students and examine their educational needs. During this period, more than 50 children have already begun their studies at the Rivne City Superhero School, and more than 500 classes have been held.
Now its personnel include the head, the educator and practical psychologist, and teachers of Ukrainian language and literature, history, and English language. By the beginning of the new academic year, the team will be completely staffed with other subject teachers.
“We are proud of every new center of the Superhero School. A lot of work, and most importantly – the faith in our children, stands behind them. Today, the children attend classes at the Superhero School in between painful medical procedures. And tomorrow, after their discharge, they will recall the joyful moments of real childhood. Further, they will return to a regular school and be confident, because the knowledge gained in the Superhero School will suffice to continue their studies. We and dozens of superheroes in Rivne city are grateful to Olena Zelenska Foundation for the support,” Nataliia Zhylinska, Head of the State Institution “Superhero School”, notes.
Rivne is one of the 6 new cities on the Superhero School’s map where new educational spaces will open this year. Olena Zelenska Foundation will also fund the launch of education centers in Lviv, Poltava, Kryvyi Rih, Vinnytsia, and Odesa cities. Since 2021, the School has been operating under the patronage of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
